With dramatic changes coming to the SAT within the next year, it is now more important than ever for students to develop strong reading and writing skills. The best way to do this, of course, is to read challenging books and to write about them. Unfortunately, most students have very little access to guided study of classic literature outside of the classroom.

ReadPhonics is now proud to offer a new and innovative personalized study program: ReadPhonics Phone-Tutoring. This one-of-a-kind interactive program combines our successful ReadPhonics educational software with the benefits of a personal tutor, who acts as the student's guide and mentor, students can read and study from a wide selection of classic books - all from the comfort of home! Each student is also assigned a personal Phone-Tutor All of our tutors are hand-picked by ReadPhonics and come from Ivy League and other top universities.

ReadPhonics Phone-Tutoring is fun, easy-to-use, effective, and surprisingly affordable.

Students study at home using ReadPhonics and improve their reading comprehension through a series of challenging reading and vocabulary tests. Students can then send their scores and essays over the Internet to their own personal Phone-Tutor for review. Twice a week, eight times a month, the Phone-Tutor will call the student for a private Phone-Tutoring lesson. During these lessons, the tutor will analyze the student's writing and help the student to improve upon weaknesses in grammar, style, usage, etc. The Phone-Tutor will also monitor the student's overall progress and help the student to set weekly reading goals.

COST

Phone-Tutoring costs just a fraction of the cost of private tutoring. Cutting out travel time and travel costs allows us to provide top tutors at a reasonable cost.

Private tutors can cost anywhere from $25 per hour to $125 per hour. Our survey of Los Angeles area tutors showed that the average tutor charges over $40 per hour!
TUTOR QUALITY

All ReadPhonics Phone-Tutors are individually selected by ReadPhonics according to a series of rigorous criteria. All of our tutors are graduates of Ivy League and other top universities, and each has demonstrated a strong dedication to education.

Hiring a private tutor can be risky business. With no way to check the tutor’s background or academic credentials, you could waste hundreds of dollars and precious time with a bad tutor.
EFFECTIVENESS

Phone-Tutoring is highly effective because it works in conjunction with the highly acclaimed ReadPhonics software program. Students read classic literature, learn vocabulary words, and answer difficult reading comprehension questions. Then, with the guidance of a personal tutor, they will have the opportunity to write on hundreds of interesting topics. ReadPhonics contains seventy-seven classic books, as well as thousands of study questions, vocabulary words, and essay topics.

Hiring a private tutor can often be a hit-or-miss endeavor. High school and college students are usually too inexperienced in education to do an effective job, and quality professional tutors are hard to come by and are often far too expensive.
PEACE OF MIND

ReadPhonics Phone-Tutoring includes a Parents’ Checkpoint system that allows parents to keep track of their children’s study progress. The Checkpoints program can be installed on any computer, allowing parents to stay informed from work or home. Retrieve detailed study information, including test scores and personal comments from the tutor – all with the click of a mouse.

With no structured way to monitor your child’s performance, working with a private tutor can often leave parents in the dark.
