When the SATPhonics Installation
CD is inserted in to your CD-ROM drive, the following windows will
appear on the computer screen. You may click on the buttons
respectively.
If you agree with HangulPhonics Copyrights, click button.
After installation is complete,
you must restart your computer. After installation, remove the installation
CD from the CD-ROM drive and load the Book CD.
If the program does not install itself automatically, you may select
the button and then select . Type "D:
Setup" in the window and click . "D:" should
signify your CD-ROM drive. Make sure the name of your CD-ROM drive
is typed accordingly.
SATPhonics Registration
You must register your SATPhonics
program. You may use the program
15 times without registration.
If you have Internet access,
you may register the program easily on-line.
In the registration window, type the serial number and click on . After 24 hours, click on to
receive your unlock code automatically.
Click on to finish registration. Registration will take
one to two days longer on weekends and holidays. For more information,
please refer to the left column of the registration window.
Add User
Click on
to input the name of the user. Type the name of the user in the window.
You may add up to four users, and the program will save the individual
study progress of each user. To delete a user, click the button next
to the user's name.
When the box appears, click on the button and
then click to delete all record of the user.
Study Menu
There are 2 categories in
Main Menu.
Study Words: Your study session begins.
Checkpoints: You can check your scores on the vocabulary tests and
Word.
There are 3 categories in Study Menu. You may customize study methods and
content.
* Daily Study: You can study daily.
* My Vocabulary: Make your own list of vocabulary words.
* Option Set-Up: Users can set up custom options.
Study Option Set-up
Study Level: User may select
the difficulty level of study material.
Study Information: Set the number of vocabulary words to be learned
each day (with a minimum of 5 words).
Study Option: If the Word Puzzle option is selected, you will be required
to do an additional vocabulary test in the Word Puzzle format.
Password Set-up: If the Password option is selected, user will be
required to enter password in order to change options.
Daily Study
Click on Daily Study to start
your vocabulary study. The program will display the number of words
you have selected in the Option Set-Up.
Click or click a word to display its definition, pronunciation,
picture (for Levels 1 and 2), and sample sentence in the right window.
Click a word to see the definitions of unfamiliar words in the sample
sentence in the definition text box.
Click the American Heritage Dictionary icon for a more extensive dictionary.
Type words in the Practice Area several times for better memory.
When you are finished, click or press Enter.
Type the word again. Press Enter or click . If you type the
word correctly, the next word will appear.
After you finish the preceding steps, you will take a vocabulary test.
Test
When you finish studying your
vocabulary words, you will automatically take a vocabulary test. It
will enable you to review the vocabularies effectively.
Test format will be either Spelling Test or Definition Test, depending
upon your level.
If you selected the Word Puzzle
Option from the Set-up menu, one more vocabulary tests in the Word
Puzzle format will appear. You will see the definition of the word
on the blackboard. Enter the spelling into the blank box provided
at the bottom of the page. If you can't solve the puzzle still, you
may use clues by clicking on below the blank boxes. Definitions of
clue words that begin with the same letter as the missing letter from
the puzzle will appear. As a last resort, click Hint by Sound>
to hear the word's pronunciation. This is fun and effective review
method.
Make My Own Word List
ATPhonics enables users to
make lists of vocabulary words assigned from school or SAT classes.
To make a list:
From the Study Menu, select My Vocabulary. It will display a menu
titled My Vocabulary. If you are making the list for the first time,
create your own title and then click . If you
want to add more words to the list, select the title and click .
To practice your vocabulary words, select one of the test formats and click
the corresponding Date.
Click Number to review the word list.
When the window displays on
the left, you may either type a word manually in Find a Word or click
on words from the List of Words.
As in the Daily Study, your screen will display the definition and
pronunciation of the selected words. Practice spelling in the practice
area and press Enter or click when you are done.
Type once more and press Enter or click .

If you want to add a word
that is not in the SATPhonics word list, click .
Type the word and definition. Type the new word in the Practice New
Word area and press Enter or click . Type the word again
in the Type the Word Again area and click OK or press enter. The word
will be saved to your list. Click to add more words that
are not in SATPhonics word list.
Checkpoints
From the Main Menu, select
Checkpoints.
To print your score report, click .
Click Number to review words.
You can take word test again.

Install American Heritage
Dictionary: Install American Heritage Dictionary.
Adjust Screen: The screen size of SATPhonics is designed at 1024 x
768. If your screen size is less than 1024 x768.

Download On-line Writing Data Access: If your operating system is not Windows
XP, and you would like to register SATPhonics on-line, you must download
Microsoft Data Access files. Click and follow the steps.
Change CD-Rom Drive: SATPhonics
sets the first CD-Rom Drive for pronunciation and picture. If you
have more than two CD-Rom drives, you must select one CD-Rom drive
to use. Make sure the Picture and Sound CD is in the CD-Rom drive
you choose and click on Help Manu. If
you see a picture of an apple, click . If not, change
selected CD-Rom Drive and click . Repeat until you see
an Apple. When you see an apple, click to close the screen.
